Cancelling, rescheduling and makeup lessons

Cancel a lesson: on the Lessons page, click "Cancel" next to it, or open the lesson and click "Cancel lesson". Cancelled lessons aren't billed and get no reminder. Changed your mind? Click "Restore".

Add a makeup or extra lesson: on the Lessons page, use "Add an extra or makeup lesson". Pick the student, date and time, and click "Add lesson". It uses the student's usual lesson length and price, and is billed with that month's lessons. Extra lessons are marked "extra" in the list. With Settings › Makeup rules on, tick "Use a makeup credit (no charge)" to make it a free makeup (see "Makeup credits: who's owed a makeup").

Move one lesson (not the whole weekly slot): cancel it, then add an extra lesson at the new time.

Already invoiced? A lesson on an invoice shows "invoiced" and can't be cancelled (lessons paid by monthly tuition can: the tuition stays the same). To take it off, void the invoice on the Invoices page, cancel the lesson, then bill that month again: the family gets a new invoice, and the old link says it was cancelled. Or keep the invoice and settle it with the family.

Missed it but still charging? Mark attendance instead (Absent, Late cancel or No-show). Attendance never changes billing; only cancelling does.

Closing for a holiday? Use "Close the studio" on the Lessons page: every lesson on those days is cancelled, with one email per family (see "Closing the studio for holidays and snow days").

A lesson marked "locked" or "paid" counts toward someone's pay, so only certain people can change it; open the lesson to see who. Families can also cancel online if you allow it in the family portal.

Names like Settings › Team are menus inside LessonPaid, once you're signed in. Already have an account? Log in. Still stuck? Email hello@lessonpaid.com.
