Charges, discounts and Charge every family

"Add a line" puts a charge (a recital fee, a book) or a discount on an invoice as its own line. On an unpaid invoice: Invoices, then "Details" on the invoice, then "Add a line". Type a Description and an Amount, choose "Charge (plus)" or "Discount (minus)" and click "Add line". The amount can be a percent, like 10%: it's worked out on the invoice's lessons and tuition (not other charges or late fees) and rounded to the cent. The total is worked out again from the lines and never goes below $0. "Remove" takes a charge or discount line off again.

If the family already has the invoice, click "Email the family" on its Details page when you're done: they get one "Updated invoice" email with every change and the new total (if you don't, it goes out on its own within a day). Every change is kept under History on the Details page. Paid invoices can't be changed: put it on their next invoice instead.

Before you send: on the Bill a month preview, click "Add a line" under a student and it goes on the invoice you're about to email.

Saved charges: Settings › Charges & discounts. Give it a Name (Recital fee), a Type (Charge or Discount) and an Amount (25, or 10%), then "Save charge". Pick it under "Saved charge" whenever you add a line.

Charge every family: Invoices › "Charge every family". Type the fee (or pick a saved charge; it's for fees, not discounts), tick the families (everyone is ticked), and under When choose "Add it to their next invoice" or "Send it now as its own invoice", then "Charge families". Charges waiting for a next invoice are listed under "Waiting for their next invoice", with Remove. Voiding an invoice puts its charges back to wait for the next one.

Recurring discount (a sibling or prepay discount): open the student, and under "Recurring discount" enter the "Percent off" and a "Label on the invoice" (Sibling discount), then "Save discount". It comes off every lesson or tuition invoice from their next one, including the final invoice when they leave, as its own line ("Sibling discount (10%) -$16.00"). Invoices already sent don't change. Enter 0 to stop it.

Free makeups stay at no charge, and payroll's "Share of the lesson price" uses each lesson's own price, so charges and discounts never change what a tutor is paid.
