Autopay: a saved card charged on each due date

With autopay, a family saves a card once and each of their invoices is charged on its due date for the balance due, so nobody has to remember to pay. The money goes to your own Stripe account and LessonPaid takes 0% (Stripe's standard card fee comes out of each charge). The card is saved by Stripe in your Stripe account: LessonPaid only keeps its brand, last 4 digits and expiry.

Turning it on: autopay works on top of card payments, so Settings › Card payments & late fees must say "Card payments are on" first. Then, under Autopay on the same page, tick "Offer autopay to families" and click "Save autopay". It's off until you do, and nothing is ever charged for a family that hasn't saved a card and agreed to the autopay terms.

What families see: an Autopay box on every unpaid invoice page, and on the Invoices tab of the family portal if you use it. It shows the terms in plain words: your studio's name, that each invoice is charged on its due date for the balance due, that amounts can change, that a charge that doesn't go through is tried again 3 and 7 days after the due date, and how to stop. They tick "I agree to autopay", click "Set up autopay" and enter the card on Stripe's secure page (nothing is charged then). Afterwards the box says "Autopay on (Visa ending 4242)" with "Update card" and "Turn off autopay". The card covers the children the terms named: a child added later isn't charged automatically until the family clicks "Add Leo to autopay" and saves their card again. The family gets an email whenever autopay is turned off or their card is changed.

When it charges: on each invoice's due date in your studio's time zone, for what's left to pay (after any part payments). Only invoices due on or after the day the family set it up, and only after the invoice email has gone out, so the family always sees the invoice first: invoice emails say when the card will be charged. Change an invoice after emailing it, and the new total is charged a day after the "Updated invoice" email goes out. Never a paid or void invoice, a $0 one, one the parent marked as paid, or the same invoice twice. A charge that goes through is recorded on the invoice like any card payment (Paid by autopay), and its reminders stop.

What you see: on each student's page, the family's autopay ("Autopay on (Visa ending 4242)"), the terms they agreed to and when, their latest charges and "Turn off autopay". On the Invoices page, the Autopay box: "Autopay families: 18 of 25", the invoices it couldn't charge and the latest charges. Unticking "Offer autopay to families" stops every charge straight away; saved cards stay saved for when you turn it back on.

Charges that don't go through are covered in "When an autopay charge doesn't go through".
