Importing students from a spreadsheet, TutorBird or My Music Staff

Go to Students and click "Import from TutorBird / spreadsheet". Either upload a file (.xlsx or .csv) with "Choose a file", or copy your rows from any spreadsheet, including the header row, paste them into the box and click "Continue".

Getting your file: in TutorBird, go to Students, choose All, tick the checkbox to select every student, then use Actions to download as Excel. In My Music Staff, go to Students and use the export/download option. From Google Sheets, Excel or Numbers, upload the file or copy and paste the rows. (Their menus change from time to time.)

Next is "Match your columns": LessonPaid guesses which column is the student name, parent name, parent email, parent mobile, price per lesson, lesson day, lesson time, lesson length and notes. Fix anything that's wrong, and pick a "Lesson length when not in the file".

The preview shows who will be imported and warns about students with no parent email (no reminders or invoices until you add one), no price (set to 0, so edit them afterwards) or no weekly day and time (no automatic lessons). Click "Import N students".

It's safe to run again: students already in LessonPaid with the same name and parent email are skipped. Up to 2,000 rows per import. Mobile numbers are saved, but nobody is signed up for texts. Past invoices, payment history and lesson notes from another app aren't imported.

Stuck? Email your file to hello@lessonpaid.com and we'll import it for you.

Names like Settings › Team are menus inside LessonPaid, once you're signed in. Already have an account? Log in. Still stuck? Email hello@lessonpaid.com.
